WEEK 1 WRAP UP (11/27-12/1)

We just wanted to reach out to everyone and say what a great first week of practice we had!  I know that some were a little confused about what the Wayland Track Olympics were all about - let me comment for a moment - it was about fun, exploration in trying new events, and a way to get to know teammates you might not of met before.  For us coaches, it gives us great feedback in seeing athletes who could potentially excel in events they might not of tried before, new athletes that we haven't seen, and a chance to explain, demonstrate, and show what that event is all about before we get into an official practice week.  It also gives you the athlete the opportunity to try it without feeling you might possibly have to do it during the regular season.  Remember we want YOU as the athlete to take ownership in the events you want to excel at throughout the season.  This is a great way to do it.
With the data we collected from distances and times from each athlete - we are better equipped to give you feedback and help guide you in the direction you want to go for the season.

With that being stated we will go over the Wayland Track Olympic Results on Monday.  Fun prizes will be given out for top three in each event and a special award for the male / female athlete who participated in trying the most events and performance ranking from those events.  Events were allocated on:  200 meter, 300 meter, 600 meter, 1000 meter, Mile, 2 Mile, Shot Put (push), Shot Put (hyperflexion), and the long jump.
